Pearls are all the rage this year
Pearls are all the rage this year: I find myself looking out for the first of next year’s pearls to go on sale. And in case you were wondering, I find a lot more good ones than bad. My mom is in a habit of buying and reselling the same pearls she bought from her
grandmother, so it’s nice that I have some options to choose from instead of just having a single set. Plus there are plenty of things other people can do with these gems to make them perfect, like making jewelry or painting bracelets. That way, they don’t just go into your purse for a week. They hold value for years. So whether or not you’re looking for the most beautiful pieces to match your style or perhaps looking for something specific to your family history, there’s always going to be something for everyone.
I’ve had quite the experience finding new ones this past Christmas season, but I will never get bored of my set. There have been lots of stories about how hard it was to pick up any particular gem or piece when looking for a rare vintage piece. But what I found through all the hustle and bustle was a wonderful mix of old fashioned pearls and modern designs that could work well with whatever mood I was in. One girl I met at their holiday party took me home because I found so many sets she liked. She hadn’t tried these at first, but her boyfriend asked if she wanted to try a few so we could play around with the different types.
They are definitely one of those unique finds where the owner finds them on their own and doesn’t want to sell them or show them off to the world. They have a few rings in the back of an antique bookcase, but they are also really fun and different with the fresh colors. You wouldn’t believe what I saw in two of the sets. Both of these women had their pendants as the top of their jewelry, while the one with the ring was hanging over the necklace that they wore on their neck instead of jewelry that hung down from their ears. I am pretty sure you would think there was some sort of symbolism to why they put them there, since that’s exactly what it looked like. Either way, it seems to be a great choice for anyone who wants to bring sparkle to everyday life without sacrificing any practicality.
Another thing you have to realize, though, is that these might be pieces someone gave your loved ones as gifts. People keep giving pendants and rings with good intentions. But sometimes people just aren’t telling it like it is. What you’ll see in the photo above are pieces that were given away by friends or maybe even family members. Most of these pieces probably weren’t meant to give anything special to anyone. It’s still a pretty cool discovery and keeps my eyes peeled for next year’s sales to come up. Maybe don’t let it scare you though, sometimes they are just looking for a little extra pep back. Or just something beautiful to hang on their wall.
I wish you all luck with your purchases, because after all these months, you will certainly appreciate the effort it took to find a true masterpiece. I hope you enjoy shopping and have time to browse through every item to find any treasures you may find. Happy holidays and happy new year.
Love you! :)
